Rekker had Charlie in his arms dozing and Zayda on his knee playing excitedly with a giant blob of slime. Choko was sitting in her chair again, pulled up next to Tia who was helping her carve out the details in one of the pumpkins. Ana, the oldest, had stepped away to get everyone some hot cider. Despite all the news about his violence Rekker looked placid here, and comfortable with the role of a father.
The ginger looked up and nodded. "Sure." He hit the table with his hand, loud but gentle, to get the girl's attention at the other end, signing to them to grab another chair. He could easily sign in both ASL, and currently using the Spanish equivalent.
"They'll get you a chair." Rekker watched the girls get up. "How has your night been?"
