Shout At The Devil! [Halloween Party] Band members and friends invited

Zack had decided that he wanted to do something for Halloween now that he'd gotten his new costume and being a Spider-Man fan he'd gone for a Spider-Punk costume straight from his comics. He'd gotten it at a local comic store down on the Strip and couldn't wait to show Damien because he knew the Dog didn't have comics or anything fun back in Hunger City. Zack now pleased that he'd arranged a Halloween Party for the band members, their friends and family to attend inside the communal area of the apartments. It was the biggest space and there was a bar all stocked up with spooky drinks, alcoholic and non-alcoholic alike.

It would be a blast!

There were even spooky snacks with crisps and chips shaped like bats, ghosts and pumpkins. There were even actual pumpkins on a table for those who wished to carve a pumpkin alone or with friends. Zack had tried to make it accessible for all, those who wished to party and get drunk and those who wanted to do non-boozy activities too.

As for costumes---they were optional but preferred.

"Ok, I think that's it. Everyone should be arriving soon."

Zack looking around the room and hoping everyone would like what he had set-up with help from some of the others of course.

A party with their many rockstar friends? No way was Minoru going to miss that. He was even able to drag Isamu out of the lab. (But apparently not out of a lab coat.)

As the door opened, Minoru waved and grinned. “Check it out! I’m Frankenstein!”

It was a classic monster costume, green face paint, the stereotypical bolts on the side of the neck, the suit Ziggy made for him hanging open.

“For the last time, you are not Frankenstein. I am Frankenstein. Frankenstein was name of the doctor, not the monster.” Isamu insisted, proving that he was, in fact, in a costume.

Given that the only difference between his Dr. Frankenstein costume and his normal attire was how messed up his hair was, it would be easy to think he just came straight from a long day at IRIS.

You asked for this pulling out a classic movie monster.

Jake was a vampire, Dracula of course, and covered in an excessive amount of blood. Niko had all but poured it down the front of his body when he asked for help getting dressed. He has two pairs of fangs tonight and prosthetics for his ears as well as eerily red eyed contacts in.

"Dr Frankenstein and Adam!" Jake's always excited to see people try classics. Jake had no idea that Isamu was in his normal clothing, more or less.

I accept my fate.

“Adam?” Minoru scratched his head.

“A reference to the novel. When speaking to Victor Frankenstein, the monster says at one point, ‘I ought to be thy Adam,’ but the doctor never actually gives his creation a name. More modern adaptations opted to be more creative in their interpretations, however.”

Minoru just shook his head, changing the subject. “Cool vampire! You made the prosthetics yourself, right?”

They were lightyears beyond Minoru’s screws.

Isamu was about to have his hands full. "It's also a spiritual interpretation. Frankenstein creation being imperfect is a commentary on God's imperfection with creation of man and His lack of care about man's suffering and isolation."

Jake would talk into infinity about things like this but he could read the room too and knew the subject was being changed, probably with purpose. "Yes, I designed the costume too but I'm better with blood than fabric."

Meaning a seamstress had undertook turning his art into patterns and a final piece.

Of course, there was no dissuading Isamu from a discussion about books, although Minoru had tried. (The night was young, though. He could catch up with Jake later.)

“In part, yes. However, when Adam requested of God to have a companion in the biblical story, the request was granted. When the monster appealed to Victor, the request was not granted.” Isamu noted. “Man is not isolated in the same fashion. In comparison to God, Victor Frankenstein did not go far enough.”

This was going to turn into a debate for sure.

"God did the same to Adam in the biblical sense. God created Adam a wife, Lilith, then destroyed her for fear that she would not be obedient and create a race that couldn't be controlled so she was thrown out." Jake shook his head. "If Victor would have felt he could control the Bride in his preminitions the way God felt he could control Eve he might have went through it. Of course, when Eve proved to he uncontrollable God sought to destroy her and Adam too just like Viktor."

“Given the immediate horror at the sight of the first creature he created, I would say that it was more than just a lack of control that influenced Victor to stop at one.” Isamu countered. “Unless I am mistaken, the Judeo-Christian God did not recoil in horror at the act of creation. That creation myth states that God made man in his own image - which despite his attempt to create something proportional and aesthetically pleasing, Victor did not manage to replicate.”

He paused for a moment.

“Now, this is not my personal theology, however, I do not recall reading any myths about a Lilith character in the famous Genesis story Shelley is referencing.”

Erik coming dressed as a crocodile monster from the swamp!

Erik was happy he'd picked out something different this year for the party, aside from being a pirate all the time, so he'd gone with a swamp monster. Well, it was a crocodile costume that could be mistaken for a dinosaur and other-worldly monster. It worked either way.

"Hej, twins! Do you like my costume? I'm a swamp monster! Sort of crocodile, dinosaur."

Of course the young Swede loved that Minoru had come as Frankenstein, or rather, Frankenstein's monster as Isamu clarified. Isamu being Dr. Frankenstein himself.

"Doctor Frankenstein and his monster? That's a cool idea."

“I may have picked up a dozen or so of the classic horror books for a little light reading while the experiment data compiles.” Isamu added causally.

“I kinda just went with the movie version.” Minoru shrugged. “You look kinda like Godzilla to me!”

If the apartment common area looked like that sort of downtown Toyko after this party, then so be it.

"I think you look really good with your bolts in the neck. Oh--Godzilla? I could be!"

The young Swede never thought about that but now that Minoru had put that thought into his mind Erik couldn't help but nod and wave his arms about. Perhaps Robert would think his costume was goofy but cute?

"Maybe I could scare the tarts with my costume tonight. Gilly will probably scream and try to slap me."

Erik giggled at that.

“Looks like Godzilla to me!” Minoru laughed. “Though, I think the only way you’re probably gonna scare anyone is if you sneak up behind them when they aren’t looking.”

Sorry, Erik. Your costume looks too cute to really be all that scary.

"Ok, I'll be Godzilla tonight and roar at everyone. I could sneak behind Gilly and wiggle my claws at his neck."

This would surely scare the tarty drummer for sure. Giant wiggly claw hands. Minoru was right though---Erik's costume was more cute dinosaur onesie then a terrifying monster. It was all fun!

"How about we have a---ROARSOME good time?"

If anyone was good at puns it was Minoru.

“I mean, Godzilla is the ultimate party crasher!” He laughed. (That was a good one. Even Isamu would have smirked at that little bit of wordplay.)

“Oh! I’m using another one of the angel photos on my Christmas cards this year. Thanks again for that shoot.”

He still had the dress in his closet.

"Yeah, he is! So, I'm a gatecrasher giant dinosaur?"

Erik laughed at that and then wiggled his tail around while trying not to trip anyone up who happened to be close to the Swede. He didn't want to cause any accidents with his reptilian get-up.

"Oh, you are? That was fun what we did with you climbing up that big tree with me and Hunter taking photos and things."

That dress! Also, the comments both boys received from the close store assistants while doing it.

"Your dress was so big and the store guys thought we were a couple."

Erik snorted at that.

“You definitely helped make the whole thing happen!” Minoru laughed.

He laughed some more when he remembered the store owners thinking they were a couple.

“My parents thought I had picked it up for Ziggy. And that we were taking engagement photos for the wedding I hadn’t told them about.” He snickered. “Did you get one of the first batch of Mick and Ziggy’s invitations? The ones with the awful ink on them? It didn’t set right or something, everything after the Mi in Mick’s name smeared off. And they thought it was for me!!”

"Oh, I remember those invitations! They were all smudgy and I couldn't quite work out the names properly."

Erik could imagine the confusion for poor Minoru's parents when they received wedding invites with the words "Mi--" on the front. Then again, what did Mick think of it? Confusion all around.

"Most of us knew it was Mick and Ziggy getting engaged though so---it wasn't that much of a shock."

The Swede pushed up his huge reptile head because it kept flapping down a little into his face. He needed something to drink!

"Do you want a potion drink at all? Frankenstein's monster and---Dr. Frankenstein?"

“Well, yeah, everyone HERE knew. But my parents didn’t!” Minoru laughed. They were a good two dimensions removed from the news, after all. “The whole conversation, they didn’t want to just come out and say it. Because you know how polite they are. But they kept talking about my ‘big secret’ and I thought they were talking about me going back to school… and man…”

They got the invitations reprinted and resent, of course. And once Itaru and Chichi got Minoru’s Christmas cards, all made sense again. But still, that was the kind of conversation that was awful in the moment but hilarious in hindsight.

“Yeah. This monster could use a potion.” He smirked. “What did the crazy mad scientists mix up this year?”

It better not be as strong as angel drinks. Minoru still remembered only the barest of bits and pieces of his first Halloween party in the Nexus.

"I could make you something?"

Erik had been concocted some strange drinks all evening and the ones that were bright neon green and steaming seemed to taste the best. The Swede giggled as he passed over a freshly made "potion."

"How about trying this one? It's green like you and is sort of a monster drink. Lots of different drinks added and it's got this steaming effect."

Would Minoru like it? Erik hoped so. He had tried it himself and it tasted like apple cider mixed with chilli, ginger and lots of booze.
